Japan–Indonesia International Workshop on Mid-to-Large Scale Timber Construction

Yonago, Tottori Japan | 15 - 17 October 2026

What You Will Experience

Western Tottori Prefecture offers a rare opportunity to experience the entire Japanese timber value chain within a single, compact region. The four-day program is designed to maximize exposure to both Japan’s cutting-edge timber construction practice and its full supply chain.

  • Erection visit of the Miyoshi Sangyo new headquarters — a four-story, one-hour fire-resistant timber building. The construction schedule has been arranged so that participants can observe the erection phase live. Such an opportunity is exceptionally rare in Japan.
  • Full supply chain tour — visits to CLT, LVL, plywood, precut, and sawmill facilities within Tottori Prefecture. A comparable range of timber production cannot be experienced in one trip elsewhere in Japan.
  • Lectures and joint workshop — with leading Japanese experts including Prof. Mikio Koshihara (The University of Tokyo), Shibaura Institute of Technology, and Team Timberize, covering design, connection technology, fire resistance, and regulation for mid-to-large scale timber buildings.
  • Direct dialogue with Japanese manufacturers and builders — including discussions with local sawmills, CLT/LVL producers, and Miyoshi Sangyo on production capacity, supply structures, and potential collaboration.
  • Official engagement — opening reception, public symposium, and a proposed courtesy meeting with the Tottori Prefectural Government (Governor-level requested).

Benefits for Indonesian Participants

  • Access to Japan’s mature mid-to-large scale timber construction ecosystem at the decision-making level — industry, academia, and government in one program.
  • Technical insights directly applicable to ongoing Indonesian projects, including the timber school project in the new capital, Nusantara.
  • Business networking with Japanese manufacturers and contractors exploring Southeast Asian markets.
  • A platform for ongoing joint research, student exchange, and potential co-investment projects with Japanese partners.
  • International visibility for participating Indonesian companies through joint PR and documentation.
